We understand that selling a car can be a stressful and time-consuming experience: dealing with listings, appointments, haggling, transferring ownership, and meeting strangers. That’s why we make it easy. Sell your vehicle to us, skip the headaches, and walk away with a fair value or trade-in offer.

Why Sell Your Vehicle to Key Autoworks

Here’s what sets us apart from private buyers or large online car buyers:

  • We Buy All Types of Vehicles — Cars, trucks, SUVs, hybrids, even damaged or non-running vehicles.

  • Fair, Transparent Offers — We evaluate your vehicle’s condition, history, and market value and explain how we arrive at our offer.

  • We Handle Paperwork — Transfer of registration, title, and required documentation are managed with you or on your behalf.

  • Local & Reliable — Because we operate in Richmond / Burnaby, you avoid shipping hassles or long-distance logistics.

  • Instant or Same-Day Decisions — Many transactions can be completed on the spot or within a short period of inspection.

  • Trade-In Option — Want to upgrade? You can use your current vehicle’s value toward another vehicle (if we have one or if you’re buying).

  • No Hidden Fees — What we offer you is what you get (assuming no significant surprises in inspection).

By selling your vehicle to Key Autoworks, you combine convenience with a trusted local partner.

Why Sell your car to us ?

How It Works: Our Selling Process

Here’s the step-by-step process you can expect when working with us:

  1. Inquiry & Vehicle Details
You provide basic information: make, model, year, kilometers, condition (mechanical / body / accidents). This helps us form an initial valuation.

  2. Preliminary Offer / Appointment
We offer a ballpark value based on your description. If you like it, we arrange an appointment or vehicle inspection.

  3. Vehicle Inspection & Evaluation
Our technicians inspect: mechanical condition, body damage, odometer verification, title/registration, history, any liens, etc.

  4. Final Offer & Agreement
Based on inspection, we present a final offer. If you accept, we proceed with the transaction.

  5. Paperwork & Transfer
We complete all paperwork: title transfer (ICBC / Autoplan), registration, lien settlement if needed, and any other documents required in BC.

  6. Payment & Vehicle Hand-Over
You receive payment (cash, certified cheque, or arranged method) and hand over the keys. We ensure everything is legally transferred.

  7. Optional Trade / Upgrade
If you choose, you can put the value toward another vehicle or service in our shop.

Legal & Administrative Considerations in British Columbia

  • Selling a vehicle in BC involves specific legal steps and documentation. Here are the key things to know:

    • Proof of Ownership / Registration
You must be the registered owner on the ICBC registration (APV250). If you’re not, or if registration is lost, you may need to rectify that before sale.

    • Transfer / Tax Form (APV9T)
This is a mandatory form for vehicle transfers. It documents the sale price for tax purposes and allows ICBC to update records.

    • Sign & Tear Off Registration Portion
You must sign the registration and tear off the bottom (registration portion) to hand to the buyer.

    • Cancel or Transfer Insurance
After sale, you should cancel your insurance or transfer it to another vehicle.

    • Buyer Pays Provincial Sales Tax (PST)
The buyer is responsible for PST on second-hand vehicle sales, based on the sale price documented in APV9T.

    • Liens or Outstanding Loans
If your vehicle is financed or has a lien, it must be settled before or during the sale. The buyer cannot legally register until liens are cleared.

    • Bill of Sale (Optional but Recommended)
Though not legally mandatory in BC, a bill of sale helps as a record (vehicle details, price, signatures).

We will guide you through all these steps, so you don’t have to worry about legal hurdles.

Tips to Get the Best Value

To maximize what you receive for your vehicle, consider the following:

Detail and Clean the Vehicle
A clean, well-presented car gives better impressions and may increase perceived value.

Gather Service Records / Repair Receipts
Showing consistent maintenance history reassures buyers and can boost value.

Fix Minor Issues
Minor repairs (worn tires, lights not working, scratches) can often yield a return higher than their repair cost.

Be Honest About Damage / Issues
Disclose accidents, mechanical problems, or modifications—it builds trust and prevents renegotiation later.

Set a Realistic Asking Price
Use pricing guides (Canadian Black Book, local listings) and compare similar vehicles in Metro Vancouver.

Negotiate Flexibility
Decide beforehand your bottom line, and what you’d accept (cash vs trade-in).
